AJ was born in Blenheim and as a child had fun making and acting in short videos with friends. At high school he further developed his interest in film-making, taking Media Studies as a class and joining the Top of the South Filmmakers’ Collective after some members of the group came in to visit his class in 2016. He was inspired from watching classic British comedy shows and studying Speech and Drama with Duncan Whiting and Pam Logan. In January of 2017, AJ helped on the set of “Hang Time” (2017), a NZ feature film shot in Kekerengu, as a runner and assisting with sound. He enjoyed playing a small part in the 2017 high school production of “Evita”.
